In July I led a painting workshop and this is one of the paintings I did during it. I've had that piece of cloth for three years now and have been intimidated by it, but when I sliced up the watermelon, I just had to put them together! It was a really fun painting to do.

I love the way you handled this. The swirls of the fabric turn into swirls on the rind... You explore it almost as an abstract instead of a stiff watermelon rendition. Great colors too!

Great choice in matching the watermelon with the cloth, Vicki. I would never know you had been intimidated by the fabric. By the looks of this, I'm guessing you had a blast actually painting it.
