"Afternoon Light at Grand Central Station"

20"x20"
Oil on Panel
Sold

This painting is from April of this year--along with  a number of others I haven't posted here!  I decided it's about time to do so!
One of the main reasons I wanted to paint this painting was to explore the effects of the light and shadows.  I also enjoyed the challenge of creating the depth in the painting and working with a crowd scene.  What a great place!  Wish I could visit it regularly for more inspiration!

Here's the larger version of Kaitlin texting. My past few paintings have been experiments with a different color palette--adding different reds, blues, pthalo green and alot more white than I am accustomed to. By the time I finished this painting, I was missing my regular palette of colors alot! I do like the softness of the pastel colors on this painting. I also have another view of Kaitlin walking down the street that I've begun with my traditional palette, so I'm looking forward to seeing how it will be different.

On her way to work on a summer morning, coffee in hand. . .

It's time for a break! I am taking a couple of weeks off from my "daily painting" to teach a workshop and to paint at my leisure! I hope to get a few projects done around the house I've been wanting to do forever. Funny how painting always takes priority over all that! Anyway, I need to focus on some other things for a bit. I'll be posting whatever I paint in the next two weeks, just not sure how often that will be! Here's to painting houses and recovering furniture!
