"Open Book" (sold)

8"x6"
Oil on Board

Working at the gallery and needing to paint, so here's the result. It is so good to work from life! I love taking advantage of all that using photographs allows in painting, but the challenge of seeing a three dimensional scene and translating it to two, and finding the color (!) is so invigorating. It sharpens my senses in a different way.

Yes I agree Vicki. I need my "real life fix" now and again as well! Very nice paintings by the way. I like very much the way you handle the paint.

Vicki - When I opened your blog just now, what I immediately said out loud was...."oooh!" I was struck by the beauty of your subtle colors and by your subject matter - two everyday objects you've animated by composition, color and paint handling. Love your work!

I love this. So simple. You have a way with the everyday scene. The paintings in the book are cool.
