Yesterday was not a good painting day! I ended up working all day on an 11x14 piece, then wiped it off! I must have learned something--at least I hope so as I'm not at all sure what it was! One thing that came of it, though, was in coming into work today, I just was able to let go of expectations and just paint. It's always amazing to me how much can ride on a painting--so many expectations and hopes, fears, self-worth, etc. Sometimes it's really hard not to get caught up in all that!

I hear you. That's the way it is sometimes - you just have to chaulk it up the day's painting as practice (so hard to swallow when you want a finished piece - I know!). However - this one is fabulous - love the soft, rich colours you are using here.

Boy do I know what you mean! Painting days are good and bad and there isn't much we can do about it ... I guess.
This painting is so wonderful. The colors are so warm and inviting and I love the subject! Congrats!

Wonderful painting, Vicki, beautifully handled. I completely understand about the expectations issue - we expect nothing but the best from ourselves and that becomes a bit intimidating.

This is very nice Vicki. I really like the warm spicy palette and the composition. I try to work from the position that I will take care of the quantity of the paintings, my higher power will take care of the quality. I still want to make a bonfire quite often!
